Huibers is looking for beauty, truth and poetry and uses the photo device as a scientific instrument. The dry, analytical approach usually leads to absurd, hilarious results that puts the essence of existence into perspective. - Bert Danckaert -
Henk Huibers (1991, The Netherlands) is a visual artist working with photography and film. During his study at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem he discovered the work of Czech philosopher Vilém Flusser and in particular Towards a philosophy of Photography (1983). This thinking on photography had a major influence on his development as artist and thinker. In 2016 he continued his education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp where he obtained the Master Fine Arts in Photography in 2018.
Through photography Henk Huibers shares his observations and contemplations of reality. Exploring both the formal and ambiguous qualities of the medium of photography, his images reflect a sensitive and poetical perception of things and moments in life.
